| What
you should know
Activities may involve moving over rugged terrain. Weather,
fitness and other factors beyond our control may adversely
effect activities.
Hill walking, mountaineering
and climbing can be dangerous and do contain an element
of risk of injury or even death. You must accept that risk
is an inherent part of the activity and that it cannot be
completely eliminated. Steep ground, weather, rock-fall,
snow-conditions, and avalanche are a few of the risks that
will be continuously assessed by your very experienced instructor.
We ask all our clients to carefully consider if they require
personal insurance to cover injury, liability, course cancellation
or curtailment. Insurance is available from a number of
organizations including;
The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) - www.bmcinsurance.co.uk
or 0870 010 4878.
Snowcard - www.snowcard.co.uk
or 01327 262805
Group sizes
Instructors to client ratios are a guide only and may sometimes
change.
Timings
Courses meet at 9.00 (or earlier) and we give at least
8 hours of instruction. Whilst we're busy enjoying ourselves
time passes swiftly and, rather than curtail an activity,
we may sometimes return late. If you need to leave early
or have a deadline please ensure we know at the start of
the day.
Equipment
Personal equipment is not provided. For most courses standard
hill walking gear is sufficient (suitable thermal clothing,
waterproofs, hat, gloves, rucksack and footwear).
Winter courses require suitable 3 or 4 season boots.
For Classic Climbs, Learning to Lead, and Advanced Rock
Climbing courses you will require specialist rock shoes.
We can arrange the hiring of rock shoes if advised at time
of final payment.
Safety equipment is supplied and includes; helmet, harness,
rope, and lead-climbing equipment.
For winter courses ice axe and crampons hire can be arranged.
If you have your own equipment we recommend bringing it
as it’s worth learning how best to use it.
We do suggest that you speak with us before purchasing
any equipment for our courses. We want to avoid you buying
something that may later appear unsuitable, and we may be
able to help with loan gear. Please call us to discuss.
What the price does not include
Accommodation & food is not included in the price;
this allows flexibility for personal preferences and budgets.
If you experience difficulty in arranging accommodation
we would be please to help.
Medical
It is important that climb-high.net is made aware of any
medical condition at time of booking and that your instructor
is advised of any injury or medical condition on the first
day of the course.
Family & under 18's policy
We require at least one parent to accompany any children
under 18 but are very keen to work with parent and child
(over 9 years old) groups. Scrambling, climbing, exploring
and hostelling/camping with children is a great way to enjoy
each other's company without the interference of Playstations,
TV etc.
Refunds and Bookings
To confirm the booking a non-refundable deposit of £50
for 2-days / £25 for 1-day courses is required. Full
payment is required 21 days before the activity. In the
event of a client cancellation no refunds will be payable
after 15 days before the activity. If we can fill the vacancy
with a late booking a refund (excluding the deposit) will
be made.
The advertised courses content are examples only; weather,
group abilities etc will affect what can be achieved. Safety
of the group is paramount.
Circumstances may arise where we are forced to cancel or
change the activity. If this happens a full refund (including
deposit) will be made. The liability of Climb-High will
not exceed the course fee.
Transport
If you would like to lift-share with other clients please
let us know at time of booking and we will forward your
contact details to others on the same course. Transport
from your accommodation to the activity location is normally
available free of charge.
Dogs
Dogs that are well behaved in the presence of sheep, lambs,
people and other dogs are welcome on walking and navigation
courses. Owners must keep their dogs under close control
and ensure that they are not a distraction to other clients
or livestock. We must be told at time of booking if you
wish to bring a dog so we can ensure this does not cause
other clients any concerns. Some people are uncomfortable
with even the best behaved of dogs.
Complaints or concerns
We pride ourselves on providing high quality, enjoyable,
activities. If you have any concerns or complaints please
make them known to us at the earliest opportunity so they
can be swiftly addressed.
The information contained on the website and on
leaflets is provided in good faith as a guide to activities.
Weather conditions, client abilities, other people, safety
and other events make the information supplied a guide to
activities and not a definitive course description. |
